Online Boom Truck Safety Training

Duration: Approx. 2 hours

This online boom truck safety training course has been developed by an I-CAB (International Competency Assessment Board) recognized content developer. Meaning the content in this course has been recognized for its expertise in the subject manner and is listed as a competency development resource for I-CAB assessment participants. The materials in this training course has been designed for operators, riggers, and supervisors working with boom trucks.

This online boom truck awareness training course covers the basics of mobile crane operation. Operating a boom truck requires specialized skills and knowledge to ensure safe and efficient operations. Proper training is essential to ensure that operators are equipped with the knowledge to operate boom trucks safely. From the anatomy of the crane to stability and load charts, this course ensures operators have the abilities necessary to safely operate their boom truck. 

There are numerous regulations and standards governing the operation of boom trucks, including those established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). It is essential for operators to understand these regulations and standards and to comply with them to avoid fines, penalties, or legal liabilities. 

This course was written to comply with CSA Standard Z150-1998.

Although this course does cover some aspects of rigging, it is highly recommended that operators supplement their knowledge by completing additional courses such as Rigging (Basic), Rigging (Intermediate), or Rigging and Slinging (Advanced). These additional courses will provide a more comprehensive understanding of rigging principles and practices. 


Upon successful completion of this boom truck training course participants will receive a certificate of completion which they can download and print.

Testing is designed to reinforce key learning objectives in this ​online boom truck training. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive the certificate of completion. Participants may retake the course two times in order to achieve a passing mark. Print materials that further reinforce the information in this course can be accessed online.
